Hey! Thanks for dropping by. I'm Patrick, a visual designer and published children's book illustrator.
Since 1997, I've worked as a graphic designer, content producer, digital marketer and brand manager for charities and not-for-profits across the spectrum that is the UK's vibrant third sector.
In 2015, on the back of a year spent living in south-east China, I took a leap and set out as an independent visual design freelancer. I'm thrilled to say that I have been able to keep my passion for social causes front and centre, and that my clients include UK charities that are outstanding in their fields.
As examples, in 2020, I've created illustrated colouring sheets and posters for WaterAid UK, developed fun learning resources and activity badges for Girlguiding for whom I am a preferred supplier, and consulted for Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity.
I'm versatile, agile and experienced enough to make my clients' brand identity the priority in my design work. I think that really matters in this sector.
To that I add a generous pinch of design thinking, so whether print or digital, the product is usable and accessible, with a look and feel that is clearly rooted in the brand itself. It means that whether illustration or infographic, layout or it will be entirely on-brand, personal to you and just what your audience needs. Because you know them best.
Published for the first time in 2016, as a middle-grade (7-11 years-old, give or take) children's book illustrator, my work has featured in a number of fiction titles published by Oxford University Press.
From sagas of Viking warriors to futuristic tales of interplanetary pioneers, my style and approach is driven by the stories being told and the media used, be that Photoshop with my trusty Wacom tablet, or glorious charcoal on proper posh paper.
